RED CORRAL — November 2, 2026. A household emergency plan should still work when a phone battery dies or an internet connection fails. Amador County and the Amador Fire Safe Council describe several information channels worth preparing in advance.
Enroll in official alerts
Amador County’s Office of Emergency Services directs residents to the county sheriff’s emergency notification program. Verify your address and contact information, and avoid assuming that one social-media feed will carry every urgent message.
Keep a radio backup
The Amador Fire Safe Council lists KVGC in Jackson on 96.5 FM and 1340 AM, as well as KFBK on 1530 AM and 93.1 FM, among emergency-broadcast information resources. Reception can vary by terrain. A battery-powered radio and spare batteries can help when electricity is disrupted.
Include animals from the start
The Fire Safe Council links to the Amador County Animal Response Team. Households with pets or livestock should plan carriers, trailers, identification, feed and a location outside a possible evacuation area. Never delay a mandatory evacuation to search for last-minute arrangements.
