RED CORRAL — November 2, 2026. Red Corral is associated with the Highway 88 corridor in Amador County. Residents traveling toward Pine Grove or the higher Sierra foothills should check current state-highway information and distinguish it from county road work.
Choose the right road authority
Caltrans publishes travel information for California state highways. When a route involves Highway 88, consult the state travel system for reported chain controls, traffic interruptions or closures. Local roads branching from the highway may fall under a different agency.
Avoid old closure posts
Weather, construction and response operations can change travel conditions quickly. Check the time of the notice, its segment limits and any official recommended detour. A closure on a distant mountain pass does not automatically mean the Red Corral segment is closed.
Build a winter departure checklist
Bring weather-appropriate clothing, water, a charged phone and basic vehicle supplies. Tell someone which route you plan to use, and do not drive past closure barriers. Amador County’s emergency-preparedness page provides separate evacuation information for major emergencies.
